Who we are
BoatCost is a free educational boat-cost calculator at boatcost.app and www.boatcost.app. You can reach us at hello@boatcost.app.
What the calculator does with your numbers
Price, loan, hours, and the other numbers you enter are processed by code that runs in your browser. This site does not create accounts and does not store loan, boat, or personal scenarios on a server. Share links keep those inputs in the page URL so you can send a scenario to someone else. If you close or reload the page without that URL, your entries are gone.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the services that deliver this site receive standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the page you requested, the referring page, and the time of the request. This is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure, and prevent abuse.
Service providers
- Hosting and content delivery: The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data to serve and protect the site.
- Web fonts: Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser information. See policies.google.com/privacy.
- Advertising: Google AdSense (see below).
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages they read. Google receives the same kind of technical information described above. We use it only in aggregate to improve the site. See Google's privacy policy.
Advertising and cookies
Google AdSense is currently the only ad network we use. Through AdSense, Google and Google-certified third-party ad vendors may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland are shown Google's consent message, which lets them choose how their data is used for ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings.
